As librarians, we were curious how well first-year students evaluated sources, so we conducted a study on source evaluation habits. We wondered if grammar and website design were more important to students than a source’s author, or if previous experience outweighed fact checking in determining source validity? Come find out what students say is important in evaluation vs. what they actually do and reflect on teaching source evaluation behaviors.
